It only takes a few simple steps to display a Finnish Spitz pedigree.

Select the number of generations from 1 to 10 that you want displayed in the pedigree. For most computer printers printing in Landscape mode, 5 generations is the best choice. To display further generations, you may "click your way back" through the pedigree.
Enter the name, or partial name, of the Finnish Spitz to search for.
  • If you use slow search, entering "Gold" will find all Finnish Spitz in the database whose names contain the letters "gold" such as Golden". With slow search you may also enter more than one word as part of the dog's name. This option is not available with fast search. Slow search will also pick up all dogs with the same letters in their names, even if the letters are split in some of the names, for example a search for "red hot" will return dogs whose names contain "red hot" and "redhot". Slow search is more thorough and accurate.
  • If you use fast search, you must provide one full word (not a partial word) for matches to show up; for example, entering "Gold" will find all Finnish Spitz whose names contain the word "Gold" but would not find those whose names contain " "Golden". For more successful searches, please use a word longer than 3 letters and omit any 's at the end.
  • You may also search for a dog using his/her registration number BUT you must use the slow search option.
  • Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI):The COI was calculated for ten generations with Breedmate's Pedigree Explorer program. For more information regarding the COI please go to the Features page.
  • A word on birth dates: In many instances of the older/deceased Finnish Spitz from outside of North America, we do not have birth dates for the dogs. In some instances, however, we are able to "guesstimate" the year of birth through their registration number. In those instances, we have entered their birth dates as January 1 of the correct year. Similarly, in many instances of dogs whose pedigrees came from the Finnish database, that database has used December 31 as the "guesstimate". Do not assume that December 31 or January 1 are valid months and days, in most if not all instances it will be incorrect. But we wanted to include the year so I have used January 1 as the default month and day. This does not apply to dogs registered with AKC.
  • Printing Pedigrees: When printing pedigrees, set your "Page Setup" and "Print" options on your browser to "Landscape" mode for best results.
Select which database to use:

Perform fast search by one full word.
Perform slow search by partial word, full word, or multiple words.
Click on the "Search Now" button below. This will begin the search. The database is quite large, so do not be alarmed if it takes a minute to see the list of matches.
